The first transformer in the world, which Siemens has developed and produced for high voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission systems with the current maximum transmission voltage of ± 1,100 kilovolts (kV). The workflows for the production and testing of this product were challenging due to the extreme dimensions of the transformer (LxWxH: 37.5 mx 12.0 mx 14.5 m) and were sent to China, where the transformer will allow a high voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission with low losses. A record distance of 3,284 kilometers with a transmission capacity of 12 gigawatts.
