The jet engines move the aircraft forward with great force produced by an enormous thrust and make the plane fly very quickly. All jet engines, also called gas turbines, operate on the same principle. The engine sucks air in the front with a fan. A compressor increases the air pressure. The compressor is made with many blades attached to a shaft. The blades rotate at high speed and compress or squeeze the air. Compressed air is sprayed with fuel and an electric spark illuminates the mixture.
